Kuzhambu:
  • Pressure cook soaked black channa separately with salt and water (black channa soaked ovenight)
  • When kara kuzhambu base is almost ready, add cooked black channa and let it boil for 5 -10 mins in medium sim
  • While adding black channa to the kuzhambu base, do not add along the water that is used for pressure cooking. Perhaps that can be used for making rasam - unique variety, Kadala thanni rasam.
  • Once when it is reduced to desired consistency, can optionally add coconut paste and bring it just to one boil. (after adding cocount paste, it shouldn't boil for long)
Beans poriyal: (Extremely simple)
  • On a hot pan, give a regular tempering and add cut beans, salt and water
  • In 7-10 mins, it will be done.
  • Finish it off with shredded coconut.
